Smokers don’t throw away their cigarettes

When smokers are done smoking, instead of throwing the cigarette butts into a waste disposal, they just throw it on the floor. We should get less people to smoke because then there would be less people whom would throw cigarettes on the floor. The more smokers we have the more waste we would have on the ground and it would cause harm to the environment. I feel as if people who smoke outside have a habit to just throw there cigarettes on the floor rather than ashtrays. I’m not saying we should let people smoke indoors now but maybe if there were more places where people can dispose their cigarette butts we wouldn’t have such an issue with it being on the ground.

Random things about pollution

Pollution is one of the biggest global killers and millions die from it each year. Tons of people around the world don’t drink water because the water is contaminated with dirty substances. There’s about 14 billion pounds of garbage thrown into the water each year. Most of what’s thrown into the water is plastic. Living in a polluted environment can cause up to 20% of risk of getting lung cancer.

Pollution may increase kids’ risk for diabetes

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/05/10/pollution-may-increase-kids-risk-for-diabetes/

According to fox news, a polluted environment may cause kids’ risk for diabetes to increase. Living in these air polluted areas causes children to have diabetes at a younger age. As they grow older they can more than likely get diabetes because of the environment they were living in when they were younger. What can we do to prevent this from happening? If children at the age of 10 are at risk of getting diabetes from pollution, what worse can happen? In a few years will children younger than 10 be at risk? We need to do something about this.

Poem #3 – A Choking Sky

By Kelly Roper

Watching smoke stacks choke the sky
Always makes me want to cry.
I just can’t help but wonder why
The factories won’t even try
To find a safer, better way
To put their poisonous waste away.

In this poem Kelly Roper is talking about all the factories that blow out dirty substances. Pollution isn’t just garbage being on the ground. It also includes dirty substances in the air also known as air pollution. Air pollution is when chemicals and particles enter the atmosphere. These chemicals and particles can cause diseases that can lead to death or be very disturbing to human beings or creatures.

Poem #2 – Pollution

Tell me is it right
That we sleep well at night
Replenishing ourselves
For tomorrows greedy fight

There lie abundant rivers with pollution
There fly multiple clouds with contamination
And when good food goes to waste
The valleys of the earth bury their paste

Our world is an institution
Of environmental pollution
We choose not to care
For our future generations

And I for one am guilty
For buying the hundreds of electronic gadgets
That attracts the industries to produce like maggots
Environmental pollution is at the heart of our planet

The forests are dying
Wild life is crying
Millions of fish are dying
Mother earth is sighing

Tell me is it right
That we sleep well at night
Replenishing ourselves
For tomorrows greedy fight
Overcrowded trains
Overloaded brains
Where is the light? What is our plight?
While rivers break their banks
And greedy industries play their polluted pranks

Sylvia Chidi is a great author that made sense in her poem about pollution and what it’s doing to the future generations. We can all reflect to this. We can think about the wrongs we do that is causing our surroundings to not be a great place to be. Every part of the world; the forests, seas, and wildlife, all of it is being polluted. How can we sleep at night knowing that we might not be able to live tomorrow?
